Following 26/11 we all are thinking that now
"enough is enough"...
"its time to take things in our own hands."....
"this time we are not gonna accept any excuses" ....
"the leaders that we have are good for nothing"....
In a few months India goes to vote....
we have a chance to reform...to not repeat the mistakes we have done in the past...
we have a chance to lead India...
But im sorry to say that the big question is that WHOM DO WE VOTE FOR????
It's most unfortunate that a democracy like ours is today without a leader...
there is noone out there that we can look up to...
no leader whom we can say that.."ya with him as our leader, sky is the limit for our country"...
I ask you today that can YOU place your hand on your heart and tell me :
is there someone out there who will give us a terror free nation ?
is there anyone who will not fill his pocket before thinking about our country?
is there anyone who will not"divide and rule"?
is there anyone who will not play politics at the expense of innocent citizens?
is there anyone who will fulfil the numerous promises made by that person during campaigning?
is there anyone who will give his cent percent to this nation?
Everywhere around me, people are blaming the present governement for security lapses, for not being able to avert this attack on us...i totally agree with them...but what bothers me that when i vote in the upcoming general elections ...which sign should i press on???
should i vote for L.K Advani ...who is ready to play the Hindu-Muslim card whenever possible, who blamed Hemant Karkare for having acted "in a politically motivated and unprofessional manner" in the Malegaon blasts investigation ...blaming a man like him who was known for his fair investigation.
or shoud i vote for Behen Mayawati ji...who spends 80%of the money allocated for the development of the state on building, demolishing and then rebuilding parks!!!
or should i vote for CPM..whose very respectable Kerala CM just gave the utmost respest to a shaheed's family by saying that"if it wasnt for sandeep not even a dog would have visited that family"
The bottomline, my friends is that one billion citizens of the world's largest democracy stand here today without a leader ..

Im afraid i differ here, Areeba. We do have people who are ready to take the country to the heights we expect. India's glorified politics of the past is still very much the present. We need those people to come out in the open to contest.
More so, Its time for us, who think they can take India all the way, to step up to the responsibility. The time is ripe, now to see who stands up against the storm....
i have just one question...where are these leaders that you talk of...and when will they come out in th the open...
our politics is dominated by people who need to retire now...we need young blood here but i dont see that coming..
we had campaigns like TOI'S lead india..they may have been well appreciated and poplular..but still the political scene remains the same..
I second Suhail's opinion... its upto us to identify these RIGHT leader(s)... maybe its inside ourself (only if we have the courage to bring the change) !!
they mite be within us but i dont think that even we have the courage to get that leader out of us...i guess we are still selfish in some regards..not every1 is a Gandhi or Nehru..
the answer is never too far.. are u willing to stash away what your career is worth n take charge?? its easy to go ahead and blame/ castigate or question ..why not be the change u want to see?? why r u an INDIAN MUSLIM first of all areeba?? arent u JUST an indian?? i mean thats EXACTLY what u talk of .. u just played the same advani card for the bias lies in US.. and are we as young indians ready to take charge? it is very easy to sit in a room and blog about how you feel. but it is equally difficult to wear your heart on ur sleeve and walk out in the open street. will u forfeit ur chance at the dream institution that u wish to attend and go out there and give face to the new politics this country needs?? i do not wish to blame anyone nor do i wish to crucify men for lapses.this is the time to take charge. u have spoken ur piece but is it being heard by the right people? we feel that being faceless nameless bloggers the radical element of CHANGE n ANGER the we feel will follow through.i am in no way saying i have a right over what this constitution gives u, the freedom of speech. all i am saying is that .. the cleansing process starts inside.if we are a nation, an INDIAN is just an indian .. not a muslim not a hindu .. as a young indian ..one has to imbibe it wholly and not just conceptually before even initiating ourselves in that direction of "change" if we can do that FIRST .. separate the concept of religion from state , this country would need nothing else.
first and foremost why ive called myself here as an indian muslim is simply coz over the years i have come across too many pple who hsve this preconceived notion that muslims living in india are pakistanis...whyi put teh indian tag before is coz i want people like them to realize and accept that if im a muslim it doesnt make me a pak supporter...
its very easy to blog i know..but im sory to say that the feelings out here have come out coz of a reason..people have looked at many like me with suspiciion..its that prejudice that i want to remove...i know blogin wont exaactly make too much of a difference but i want to atleast something even if its small...
i know i have criticized d leaders...i know i wont go out there and exactly reform the system but isnt this wat majority of us are feeling rite now...
none of us mite not be willin to give up our careers and join politics but for some it is their career...its their bread and butter and they have got htis power coz of pple like us who vote for them...so they are answerable to the citizens of this country..
yes, i agree that the change has to first come within ourselves..that was my motive for settin up this blog...i want pple to cleanse their thinking...u included..coz u wont exactly know how it feels when ur sincerity towards ur nation is questioned...im an indian first then a muslim but this had to be collaborated for those thick skinned people who just cant get this down their throats!
i am amazed that the media with its ostensible "voice" has been putting up much celebrated "indians" on stage to garner support and collate the apparently disunited nation of india..i wish that when we talk of state/nation/governance the mere mention of religion should be removed.i want to knw why do we lament about "minorities"?? like me , like all the bloggers ur JUST an indian.what religion u practice n abide by is your personal issue and not something the state is concerned with. the only radical change that we can seek now is to bring professionalism into politics itself.no rajahs, no dynasties , no religion, no bureaucrats .. hardcore politicians whose basic bread n butter indeed comes from governance.not something men do when they want to taste raw power.
sociologists claim that as the only reasonable solution to the crisis for the right leader. now the issue is "young indians" we need to take charge and be more socially active than just lame candle light marches.they have no effect..its just a media gimmick and propaganda .. n now its more a "page 3 event for a cause".
lastly about u being a "paki" thts the derogatory usage right? well quite honestly its not just me, but every muslim and hindu, also needs to understand the only way to feel no fear is to fight it.if i alienate u or u alienate me, we breed nthing but mistrust and that needs, but a small spark to ignite the very crude nature this fear can have..
we have to understand that religious differences should not bear upon state affairs.thats all..
and i realize this anguish of yours and what it can do to a sane mind.but then again this is a time to say i am an INDIAN period.the rest cn follow later.for the attack was not on a hindu or muslim.they raided our nation.what we hold sacred.be it before/after allah or ram!
unfortunately we mistake the religion for terror..for the perpetrators of this terror trail do use religion to misguide young minds pollute them in the name of religion.what can be done about that??i am not blaming i am merely asking a question.what better ways are there to cleanse that tarnish that is settling on a religion? i mean this not only goes out to every muslim.but to every hindu ..who sees a neo fascist modi turning Gujarat into his own camp for genocide..why doesnt the nation, the state sympathize with the fear that reigns in the heart of every islam follower in Gujarat?
i feel if we r to exemplify or pontificate over religious atrocities i am sure we all will have stories, for history is not without bloodshed.
right now we need to purge this evil .n most importantly purge religion out of nationalism.
wat say areeba?
now what u have written now is something that did not instigate me at all...the answer i wrote before was when i got very emotional..i sometimes overreact coz after a certain point pple like me are not able to take the accusations..
i completely agree with wat you say that we are first INDIANS and we will not divide...but you also have to undestand that not veryone is as level headed as u are...there are well educated people who behave like completely illetrate ones....my blog's name is to keep their mouth shut...
i second your opinion that we do need to look above caste and religion and region...
its good that you too realise that politicians are not here for some socialis cause...running this democracy is no longer a no-profit socialist cause..
yes, leaders are tryin to pollute the young minds with issues like religion..i personally know of well educated muslims who now hold the opinion that these barabric acts are justified as they will give our community revenge...they are a reply to the godhra carnage..and this deeply hurts me...no matter how much i try n reason they just doint listen...
maybe now you might understand why this blog is like a release of overcharged emotions...im not doing it to make myself popluar..it has an honest intention..to make citizens of this country realise that we only can save the essence of our country and that is "our unity in diversity"...
i know you mite say that blogging isnt gonna change much...but see here it might be getting a few responses but even these 'few' will go back with a more cleansed thinking...i'll be happier coz i know for a fact that until you flush those thoughts out..you wont go back as a lighter person...
and i apologize if i have hurt anyone's feelings here...
Dear areeba
democracy is a flawed system, but its also a good system. trouble is, its only as good or as bad as the people who run it, i.e. voters, make it. wanting to "opt out" of this messy way of governance is the standard middle class response to crisis. a lot of text messages were circulated after the mumbai attacks asking citizens not to pay taxes; demanding CEOs instead of CMs. this is what someone recently called a "pay as you go" approach to democracy, and I dont think it is wise or tenable. paying taxes, voting--is half the work in democracies. the other half is finding out how the taxes are spent, how governance is working. we have more tools for this now than before--look at the many success stories RTI has created. my response to you , on this post, and to others who agree w you is this--do the hard work.
on the whole, i feel your blog is an interesting idea. it would perhaps benefit from a less liberal use of sms-isms and more frequent spell checks, but these are minor grouses and are of course, terribly old fashioned ones :)
keep posting, your insights are very illuminating and valuable in these "interesting times"
-Pakistan and Taliban do not represent an ideal islamic state...many of their acts are against shariyat
-the world of politics is not as green as it looks to us...we simply cannot standup and become leaders overnight.Even a student who starts at university level starts with a criminal record...the basic problem is corruption...lack of honest people at lower level...be it anyone: contractors, engineerss, lawyers, police, judicial system and even the doctors!!....if we want to start, we can start at low level by correcting the system........there is no way a person with good moral values can survive in the politics for long ...even Rahul Gandhi isnt taking the charge of Congress???
@@aditi Why indian muslims??
because we are made to feel like indian muslims and not indians??
Another side of 26/11 must read at

I agree with HAIDER when he says "we are made to feel like indian muslims and not just indians". i have seen that .for all my five and a half years in medical college ,i shared my room with Imraan and it really hurt me noticing a lot many eyes scrutinising his reactions during indo-pak cricket match in the television room.i saw him vocalising his pleasure out of bounds on a catch taken by india or sighing and cursing pak at each wicket they took .this was nt him . he was usually mr cool ..usually silent.i think for our muslim indian freinds just to be patriotic is not enough ...they have to patriotic and flashy about it at the same time, a very unfortunate thing indeed.@ areeba. i dont think just blogging is not going to help.it is due to this blog only that we are here as a chain .it is only "a thought"which matters...which has created and brought down dynasties and the truth that will ultimately prevail......
i am GLAD that none of us are a gandhi or nehru!thanks to them today we fight over religion.as madhur mentions imraan and the indo pak match, does anyone try to delve into history n see wat CAUSED india pakistan.they claim to be the so called leaders who brought us freedom.we just idolized them, and in blind faith did the folly of making a bhoora sahib sit instead of a gora sahib! where was d sagacity of this gandhi nehru duo when sardar patel suggested to divide the entire nation in four zones flat?? the very foundation of this political system this country is flawed. does anyone know why they condemned sardar patel? for he envisioned an india where politics wont be for the power hungry but for the just to govern the nation towards progress.
thanks to that very political system, we now have a burning maharashtra, people talking of khalistan and what not.what we need is NOTHING, as i again say is a set of individuals, who are deviod of religious biases whence it comes to governance of this nation.nehru gandhi gave us two rather sordid legacies, one of state driven politics which will forever be the bane of this country, and india pakistan (jinnah be blamed on the other side of the "border") which is causative of much division of hindu muslim.
i recently read a post on FB, where a supporter of hillary clinton had written regarding citizens of azad kashmir (POK) they are alienated, they are cut off, and they are discriminated against for being hindu muslims!
so how many attacks are we going to make ? areeba the indian muslim or maqsood the hindu muslim? its painful to see that even the educated class harbors such discrimination but then coming back to the original point of leadership, choose my dear friends , for today we have the right, lets just try making a very almish effort, who knows where it may lead..we sit and we ponder "kauna kehta hae asmaa mei chhed nahi ho sakta? ek patthar toh tabiyat se uchhalo yaaro".. boycott is not the answer, so is angst misdirected.only the erudite, the enlightened and awake know that the journey on the right path is first made the confucius way: ONE SMALL STEP. we al get set backs we all know the vagaries that surround us, lets still try look for that silver lining.for that one shre of hope, is all we have!

there is no professionalism in politics....they want to win it by hook or by crook and thats the reason why the communal divide is created

@ Aditi, with due respect i feel that today cursing gandhi and Nehru has become an intellectual masturbation for most of us.I think we all Indians suffer from one disease ....."GREY COLOR BLINDNESS".I mean things are always black and white for us.if somebody does a great work, we suddenly develop this scotoma and award him the status of GOD. a god who has no flaws. the day we start seeing gandhi and even nehru just as humans with all humanly flaws and accept their sacrifices as well as mistakes they made,we will realise that they were really great.
Everybody has a personal angle , a personal vision...and it does not matter if the vision is flawed( it is human to be imperfect). what matters is the intention and the will to sacrifice fr the cause. ok ok i agree nehru was overwhelmed by selfish tides at the end but that can not make us forget PANCHSHEEL and N.A.M.I think otherwise leave apart india and pak ...we wud ve already been blown in to n no. of pieces during the cold war itself. And as for Gandhi i believe biggest of ahis achievement was nt freedom of the country but to get all the countrymen under one flag, united.i still belive he was a MAHATMA , what i dont believe is his being PARAMATMA.
@HAIDER...true Raj thackery shud be placed at a pedestal no less than masood azhar.our linen is dirty as well my freind.but can u please describe an economic package fr kashmir if amputated from india? what all problems it will face and how will it deal with them ????It is gonna thrive more on kalashnikovs than on houseboats ...TRUST ME and Arundhati Roy`s one time literary ejaculation does not make her an authority oer this matter.
and as far as coming elections , i am going to think small . delving on the personality and inclinations of my local m.p. candidate.at least that way i wud be sure of something .No wonder why eunuchs are getting elected and it shud be so untill we(incluiding my cowardly self)regain our lost manhood and get active in to constructive politics overlooking our narrow horizon.
hi, apka sawal bashia laga...lekin 1 sawal mera bhi hai...kya hum sabhi 100 crore log is bar k parliamentary elections me vote dalenge...neta pasand hai ya nahi...ye sawal to hum tabhi kar saktey hai na jab vote dalne jayein...vote daal k to dekhiye janab ..badlav apne aap aa jayega...
